Gathered from &#8216;Flash&#8217; reports submitted by <strong>93<\/strong> Provincial Secretaries worldwide via portal.sdb.org, the data illustrates the vast Salesian footprint across <strong>138<\/strong> countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Personnel Breakdown<\/strong><br>By December 31, 2025, the Congregation was made up of <strong>13,558<\/strong> Sons of Don Bosco. This total includes <strong>13,444<\/strong> professed Salesians and <strong>114<\/strong> Bishops. The membership is categorized as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Priests:<\/strong> 9,116 (67.81%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clerics:<\/strong> 2,654 (19.74%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brothers (Coadjutors):<\/strong> 1,276 (9.49%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Novices:<\/strong> 384 (2.86%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Permanent Deacons:<\/strong> 14 (0.10%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, the Congregation experienced a minor decline of <strong>96<\/strong> members compared to <strong>2024<\/strong>. This drop resulted from <strong>233<\/strong> deaths and <strong>264<\/strong> departures, which slightly offset the intake of <strong>398<\/strong> new novices and <strong>3<\/strong> readmissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Vocations and Formation Data<\/strong><br>The future of the Congregation is reflected in its younger generations. At the end of 2025, there were <strong>384<\/strong> novices. Of these, <strong>1,598<\/strong> are canonically erected (which requires at least four confreres with perpetual vows) and <strong>119<\/strong> are non-canonically erected (requiring at least three confreres).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geographically, the top five countries make up over <strong>45%<\/strong> of the entire Congregation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>India:<\/strong> 2,742 professed members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Italy:<\/strong> 1,704 professed members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Poland:<\/strong> 755 professed members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spain:<\/strong> 725 professed members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brazil:<\/strong> 566 professed members<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Insights on the Numbers<\/strong><br>The report notes that the 2025 figures include minor adjustments to the 2024 data to account for late documents and pending situations. Fr Garino highlighted that these statistics are far more than just cold data; they showcase the enduring vitality of the Congregation <strong>166 years<\/strong> after its foundation.
